Extension of the Grand Mosque:
The first massage of Mosque taken
under the Saudi government was 1955. Few even claim that most of the historic
sites made by the Ottoman Empire were destroyed during this increase. The
second expansion occurred when King Fahad (fifth king of the Saudi Arabia
Empire), where the outer area of prayer was added to the traditions. The
second expansion ended in 1988. The third expansion brought major changes to
the Holy Mosque as warm areas, airports, escalators and the current water
system. This increase occurred in 2005. Meanwhile, the fourth increase between
Saudi government was nominated for the first time in 2007. Every year the
number of pilgrims came to do Hajj so there is a need for a huge expansion of
the Holy Mosque. The current expansion is expected to end until 2020. Saudi's
last king King Abdullah wanted to increase the power of the Holy Mosque over
2.5 million worshipers at a time. Expenditure costs are estimated at SR 40
billion ($ 10.67 billion).
Extensions are made on the north
side of the complex and the main gate will be named by the name of King
Abdullah and will have two minarets, total minarets of the holy mosque to 11. The
entire existing Mosque sanctuary is 356,000 square meters which enables 770,000
worshipers at one time. The new expansion will extend 400,000 square feet
[400,000 sq km] to the Holy Mosque with over 1.2 million worshipers' ability.
Thus, the Full Mosque area after expansion will be 756,000 million feet,
equivalent to 195 footballs ground. The capacity of Mataf's area will increase
as various sites made by the Ottoman will be demolished to increase the entire
tawaf area. After the completion of this growth, the Holy Mosque will have over
2.5 million power at a time.
